Jo-Kat Lodge Calling Lake AB

I started a new job as the Manager of a Lodge in northern Alberta at Calling Lake
On the drive there I stopped in Vegarville for the night, saw the giant Easter Egg for the second time in my life it looks different after 30 years LOL
The town of Athabasca is a half hour drive from the lodge.

Colours in my garden

My Backyard

We had a beautiful rainbow last week very early in the morning while I was gardening.

I took it as a sign of Good things to come, New Beginnings....

Looking and Seeing

click on any picture to enlarge
this is Frenchmans Valley

I was looking for some fields of flax but all I found was this handlful

there are bridges to nowhere all over the province

I love the way these two compliment each other
Whether I'm in my garden or driving around I like to take a closer look at the changing landscape.
I wonder how many just drive the route daily and take no notice.
I find the same route changes daily and I try and stay focused on the moment and experience the miracles we see daily.

Every Decision

Every decision I make is a choice between a grievance and a Miracle
I let go of all grievances and resentments and choose the Miracle (Deepka Chopra)

Sailing on the Prairies

I"m often asked why I moved to the prairies.
I always wanted to go sailing because the ocean is so calming and so close to the sky and clouds. I also love to drive and the prairies are much the same as the ocean but a bit more safer to navigate alone.
I love to see the changing landscape the colours are big and bold and they jump out at you, or it's different shades of green with a streak of yellow. The clouds passing darken and deepens the colour. I think it's time to start painting what I see.
The pictures don't do the views justice.......... at times it just takes my breath away. Watching the clouds moving quickly over the fields, or just watching the clouds......breathless
When my mind is storming I go for a drive to calm my nerves and appreciate the beauty
that surrounds us.
My flowers do the same for me, I will stop and take pictures of wild flowers and wonder why so many people don't notice the beauty there. It calms me down like meditations and before I know it the rain has stopped. My Mteam friend has told me many times how blessed I am and I agree Everything I need right Now is here.

After the Rain

Crying is like the rain, it comes down hard at times and you think, is it ever going to stop, and then it comes in little showers here and there.
I've been grieving the loss of a good job,
It's like any loss you have to give it time to sink in go thru the process.
I had to admit it's time to change my point of view of what I truly can do, letting go of the what I think are my physical strengths.
I thought I had already dug deep, but the same issue keeps popping up in different ways.
It's time I learned the lesson and moved on LOL
I will continue to seek the positive in both work and play.

this picture collage is of my garden by the front door of my house, it's in the second year of development, I'm happy with the progress.

My gardens and getting back to nature have always been my salvation.

This is the picture of the front Door before

This is the work in progress

61 Centering in Truth

Hexagram 61 Truth involves establishing an aware relationship between your inner core and significant others in your life. Centering in truth involves the ability to perceive a fundamental wisdom, reflected within yourself -- and also in your relationships.

Truth is transformed into power when you disperse all prejudice and make yourself receptive to the world as it really is. Truth's power can be a remarkable force indeed -- yet is rarer than generally imagined. It can be maintained only by cultivating a genuine openness to things as they are -- a willingness to see, rather than merely look.

Whenever your inner life is clouded, your influence in the world is under a shadow. If you are fearful, you will be attacked; if you cloak genuine mysteries in dogma, opportunities for new insight will be lost. If you vacillate in upholding your principles, you will be tested. Yet, when you are firm and strong, the power of truth can break through even the most stubborn minds.

In any debate, the power to perceive the truth in the other side's argument is essential to achieving success. It is possible to influence even the most difficult people, or improve the most difficult circumstance, through the power of universal truth -- for unvarnished truth is something to which all things naturally respond. Get in touch with the part of yourself that is aware of this universal force of truth. Cultivate this inner resource, and you will become adept at using it to bond with others to support a common purpose.

The Four Agreements

The Four Agreements by:Don Miguel Ruiz...
They are Great principals to live by...

The 4 agreements are....

1) Be impeccable with your word

2) Don't take anything personally

3) Don't make Assumptions

4) Always Do your Best

Too funny

A little old lady went to the grocery store to buy cat food.

She picked up three cans and took them to the check out counter.

The girl at the cash register said,

"I'm sorry, but we cannot sell you cat food without proof that you have a cat.

A lot of old people buy cat food to eat, and the management wants proof that you are buying the cat food for your cat."

The little old lady went home, picked up her cat and brought it back to the store.

They sold her the cat food.

The next day, she tried to buy three cans of dog food.

Again the cashier demanded proof that she had a dog, because old people sometimes eat dog food.

She went home and brought in her dog.

She then got the dog food.

The next day she brought in a box with a hole in the lid.

The little old lady asked the cashier to stick her finger in the hole.

The cashier said, "No, you might have a snake in there."

The little old lady assured her that there was nothing in the box that would harm her.

So the cashier put her finger into the box and pulled it out and told the little old lady,

"That smells like shit."

The little old lady said, "It is. Now can I buy three rolls of toilet paper?"

In the looking glass

Sometimes in life,
you find a special friend;

Someone who changes your life
just by being part of it.

Someone who makes you laugh
until you can't stop;

Someone who makes you believe
that there really is good in the world.

Someone who convinces you
that there really is an unlocked door
just waiting for you to open it.

This is Forever Friendship.
I got this in an email, not sure who wrote it.
I painted the wall it is part of a series of mural paintings I did in the attic
in my old room at my mothers house.

Happy Easter

I took this picture in a remote camp in Alberta last year, I thought this little plant was a true survivor.
