Through the Looking Glass

if the looking glass,
I look through-
is painted with fears,
clouded with misgivings-
stained with my tears.
if I look through,
the looking glass-
who do I see,
do I cringe and hide-
curl up inside,
the cracks of it-
seep into my scars.
a voice says,
step through the-
looking glass,
into your soul-
the beauty that embraces you,
the truth your heart holds-
see the weightlessness,
of your lighted being-
float through the breath,
of light and love,
it finds your loveliness-
breaking through,
your visions of wretchedness-
you were molded by patterns,
that break and crack-
at your reflection,
but through the eyes-
of your soul,
you will find-
your resurrection,
death to life-
your being so bright,
you are more than-
the lies that steals,
your life from you.
what you truly see,
in the looking glass,
is the light of-
a shining star,
piercing the dark-
of your pain,
bringing you back-
to your beautiful soul again.

Freedom

Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything - anger, anxiety, or possessions - we cannot be free.
~ Thich Nhất Hạnh

Magic

And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.

Be Still

Want only what is true.
This will lead you to the well of your deepest sorrows.
Follow that passageway, all the way down;
Become the dark emptiness of your absent core.
Be still. Don’t measure the waiting.
Be still. Let the waiting become a fire.
Be still. Let the fire show you its secret heart:
A strand of clear light running through you.
Gather yourself there, and the luminous universe opens.
In that vast expanse, fathomless, infinite ocean of light,
Lose yourself, and find yourself, and become what you already are.
~ Jennifer Welwood

Authentic Self

Vulnerability is the only authentic state. Being vulnerable means being open, for wounding, but also for pleasure. Being open to the wounds of life means also being open to the bounty and beauty. Don’t mask or deny your vulnerability: it is your greatest asset. Be vulnerable: quake and shake in your boots with it. the new goodness that is coming to you, in the form of people, situations, and things can only come to you when you are vulnerable, i.e. open.

Angels

Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve.
You don't have to have a college degree to serve.
You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve.
You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.
~ Martin Luther King Jr.
Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;
And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.
And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.
From "On Pain" by Khalil Gibran
